New Immigration Policy Launch-Minister Praises Immigrants
Canada has introduced a new public policy for the immigrants to issue permanent resident status. The new policies have been introduced to help the foreign nationals with temporary status in Canada.
During the launch, the Immigration Minister of Canada, Mendicino, showered praises on immigrants, he said that the contribution of immigrants to Canada is long-lasting and therefore we want them to stay in the country. This is a clear example of Canada’s perspective towards immigration.
It is to be recalled that Canada introduced the immigration levels plan for 2021, 2022, and 2023, and sets a big target of welcoming over 4 lakh immigrants each year. Immigrants have been playing a key role in strengthening the economy and to fulfill the scarcity of skilled workers. Therefore, the Canadian government is determined on increasing the immigration levels.
New Immigration Programs-Benefit to 90,000 Immigrants
Canada is all set to bring 6 new immigration programs into action for international students, essential workers, and French speakers from May 2021, its an opportunity for 90,000 foreign nationals to transform their status as permanent residents of Canada.
Through these new immigration pathways, IRCC is all set to open doors for 20,000 temporary workers in health care, 30,000 temporary workers from other essential occupations, and 40,000 international students who graduated from Canadian institutions to permanent residency while inviting numerous applications belonging to French speakers.
The three streams are catered to 90,000 new immigrants which include international students and frontline workers, while the other three streams are specially catered to French-speaking immigrants and also there is no intake cap
Immigration minister, Marco Mendicino, announced the public policy on April 14, 2021. The programs will remain open from May 6 2021 to November 5, 2021, or until the intake limit set by the government reached.
Applications from 40 healthcare occupations and 95 other essential occupations such as caregiving, social service, transportation, agriculture, food production, and distribution, etc will be accepted.
Eligibility:
Workers must have a minimum of one year of Canadian work experience in healthcare or another essential occupation (approved by the Canadian govt.)
International graduates from Canadian educational institutions are eligible. However, graduates who have pursued their post-secondary education in the previous four years are eligible, while graduates before January 2017 are not eligible
Candidates must have proficiency in one of Canada’s official languages, French and English
Must be staying in any Canadian province other than Quebec
A candidate must possess authorization to work otherwise working in Canada
