Canada: Outlook on PNP Nominations in August 2021
ll the provinces and territories of Canada, except Quebec and Nunavut, have their own Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) through which they invite skilled immigrants to work in their respective regions. Provinces will select the suitable candidates as per the market needs and labour shortage.
Canada provinces have issued 3,400 invitations to apply for provincial nomination during the month of August.
Launched in the year 1998, the PNP has become the second most prominent route for foreign candidates to apply for Canada PR after express entry, resulting in 80,000 plus immigrants being transformed as Canadian permanent residents every year.
Ontario
Ontario's PNP program is Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), organised a total of 5 draws this month and invited 875 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination.
The first draw was held on August 6 inviting applicants to apply under the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker and Employer job offer: International Student streams.
The second draw was organised on August 11 and invited 48 immigration candidates.
On August 18, 2021, Ontario invited Masters Graduate and PhD Graduates- 479 international student graduates were invited to apply for a provincial position. More specifically, Ontario invited 403 Masters Graduates and 77 under PhD Graduate stream.
On August 25, Ontario held a second draw targeting Masters Graduate stream, inviting 326 candidates with scores of at least 37.
OAugust 26, 20 invitations were issued under Entrepreneur Stream, the targeted scores are between 142 and 200.
Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan province issued a total of 948 PNP invitations through Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). A total of four rounds were held targeting Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand sub-categories of the International Skilled Worker Category. The number is higher than the July month, when 575 invitations were issued.
British Columbia
In August, British Columbia invited 900 plus candidates under Express Entry British Columbia, Skills Immigration streams, to apply for a provincial nomination.
Alberta
On 23 August, Alberta organised the biggest draw ever inviting 450 candidates through Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)’s Express Entry Stream. CRS score requirement is minimum 300. Two other AINP draws were held on the dates of 10th and 30th of August.
Manitobaa
Manitoba held only single draw in August 2021. The draw was held on August 12 inviting 275 candidates through three streams-Skilled Workers in Manitoba, International Education Stream, and Skilled Workers Overseas.
Prince Edward Island
On 19 August, Prince Edward Island held its pre-scheduled draw and invited 161 immigration candidates to apply for provincial Nomination, in which 152 candidates are from Express Entry and Labour Impact and the remaining 9 invitations belongs to Business Impact. The required Points are atleast 75.
