Canadian Govt. Launches New APP For People Arriving In Canada, How It Works?
The government of Canada launched a software app named ArriveCAN for people coming to Canada from foreign countries, the new app is launched as a part of the health and safety protocols to terminate the spread of the Covid-19 virus. This is available to Canada travellers as a mobile app on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
From November, passengers arriving in Canada must submit their information in the ArriveCAN app, the key information such as contact details, quarantine plan, accommodation details, and COVID-19 self-assessment.
To avoid the delays and point of contact, the Govt. has launched this app.
The main purpose of this app is to reduce the spread of COVID-19 as the passenger information is taken digitally or online, reduces the delay in immigration process at the destination, hence minimises the physical contact between border officers and passengers, and also minimizes the contact between the travellers.
Special lanes are dedicated for ArriveCAN users at airports in Toronto (Pearson), Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary.
Before Arriving
Before arriving in Canada, passengers would be required to download the ArriveCAN app and submit all the required information as stated. After arriving at the destination, Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) officers will verify the submitted data.
The action would be taken on the Travellers who haven't followed the procedure, $1,000 fine to violators. Exceptions have been given for passengers who have not submitted digital information due to disability or lack of infrastructure.
From November 4th, airlines will remind their respective Canada passengers to submit all the details including COVID 19-related information through ArriveCAN before boarding the flight.
After reaching the destination, travellers have to show the respective ArriveCAN receipt to the border officer. If everything is clear as per the protocol, you will be permitted to enter Canada.
In addition, this process is applied for Travellers entering Canada by land or ship as well.
After Arriving
Beginning November 21, 2020, the travellers who have entered Canada have to submit information through ArriveCAN, otherwise by calling the toll-free number: 1-833-641-0343, during self-isolation.
People under the Mandatory Isolation category are exempted from this protocol and they don't need to provide their data.
Within 48 hours of entering Canada, Travellers are required to confirm that they have arrived at the accommodation for self-quarantine and must provide the daily self-assessment information during the quarantine period.
