How The Expired COPR Holders Will Travel To Canada?
The COPR documents were expired for candidates who are not able to travel to Canada from their places due to the lockdowns and air travel ban from March 2020 due to the corona outbreak.
Therefore, the Canadian govt. IRCC had introduced an online process, web form, in July 2020 and asked expired COPR holders to submit their details through it and get a ready to travel authorization letter to come to Canada.
In July, last year, IRCC initiated the webform process through which the expired COPR holders are able to contact the IRCC officials to get the information of their status and to know if they are eligible to arrive in Canada.
At present, IRCC has suspended the webform services to terminate the overflow of requests and overflow of passengers amid the current corona new strain threats, however, they will contact the people individually once their Permanent Residence got approved, and the respective persons are eligible to pack up and step into Canada.
Canada’s Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that candidates with Expired Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) are not allowed to contact the IRCC through web forms and email to verify the PR status as the respective services have been suspended.
IRCC confirmed that there is no need to contact the department through web forms as they have taken the responsibility to contact and inform the candidates whose PR got approved.
Though the new mechanism of webform was launched in July 2020, the actual work of issuing Ready to Travel letters was kickstarted in September 2020. There are about 10,000 expired COPR holders. In the last year of November, 6,000 candidates with expired COPR contacted IRCC, while only 500 members were issued the permit.
