What is CRS Score and What Role It Plays in Getting Canada PR?

Canada has emerged as one of the most prominent abroad destinations for abroad skilled workers who are willing to settle their careers in the best way. There are many factors involved, which are attracting the international people, the most important one is Permanent Residence permit that offers a lot of benefits. 

Getting Canada PR has become a major aim for the majority of Indians. In the process of getting invitations to become Canada’s permanent resident, the CRS score plays a key role. The amount of score will impact the Canada PR ambitions of the applicant.  

The skilled immigrants will submit their applications with all the required information in the express entry system. IRCC officials will evaluate the applications and after evaluating the profiles of candidates in the Express Entry System, the eligible profiles are placed in the express entry pool. The CRS system is used to determine which applicants will be invited to apply for permanent residence. 

CRS means Comprehensive Ranking System, this is a point-based system that gives points to the candidates based on the candidate’s profile submitted in the Express Entry, plays an important role in getting ITA for PR.

The scores are allotted based on the following criteria-

  • Age
  • Education qualification
  • Skills
  • Work experience 
  • Language ability(English/French or both)
  • Spouse profile

Based on the above factors, the candidate is allotted a CRS score out of a total of 1,200 points. Each category will have certain points weightage.

The candidate whose score is the same as the minimum cutoff score or above will be offered an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canada’s most in-demand permit, permanent residence during draws. 

To get an ITA for Canada PR, a candidate will have to score the same as the CRS cut-off score or above. Each immigration draws or draws will have a different cutoff range or same.

Though there is no need for a prior job offer for getting nominated for permanent residence, having a job offer or a provincial nomination will improve the weightage of the CRS score

  1. 200 points are allotted for the CRS for having an approved job offer in the administration or managerial sector, while all other job offers are worth 50 points.
  2. A PNP  (Provincial Nominee Program) candidate will be given 600 points, which guarantees an invitation to apply for permanent residence.
